- The “Fire Officer” course series is now taught under the new curriculum from California State Fire Training.

Course Description:
The Fire Officer 4B course provides the skills and knowledge needed for the Fire Officer 4 to safely, effectively, and competently develop a comprehensive long-range plan, exercise community leadership, administer a media relations program, complete an all-hazard risk and value analysis, evaluate and forecast training requirements, develop a succession plan, and develop a capital improvement project or program.
Certification:
All students who complete the course will receive a certificate from State Fire Training.
Designed For:
Personnel preparing to pursue Fire Officer 4 certification or anyone who performs the duties of a Fire Officer 4 within their agency.
Prerequisites:
Meet one of the following requirements:
- Meet the education requirements of OSFM Chief Fire Officer or Fire Officer 3 certification
- Currently in the position of, or acting as, a Chief Fire Officer or higher
Fire Officer 4A: Human Resource Management
Standard:
Complete all required activities and formative tests.
Complete all summative tests with a minimum score of 80%.
Course Hours:
54 hours
- 29 hours of in-class lecture
- 9 hours of in-class application and Testing
- 16 hours of task book application – Outside of Class

Course Details:
The class will begin at 0800. The dress is casual yet respectful, and uniforms are also acceptable.
Like all Elite Command Training courses, please bring a laptop computer with a USB Type-A port to class each day. Your student materials will be on flash drives that you’ll receive on the first day.
