Special Notice:
The “Fire Officer” series of courses is now taught under the new curriculum from California State Fire Training.
Any of the Fire Officer series courses (Fire Officer 2/3/4) MUST be taken IN ORDER.
Students taking the Fire Officer 2B course will utilize the task book used in Fire Officer 2A. Please remember to bring your task book for the entire course.
The instructor will provide expectations outlining the requirements for completion of all task book activities and any associated due dates.
Course Description:
The Fire Officer 2B course provides the skills and knowledge needed for a Fire Officer 2 to safely, effectively, and competently execute routine administrative functions, collect incident response data, and prepare concise reports; cooperate with allied organizations, address citizen concerns, and implement a community risk reduction program; describe fire inspection procedures, conduct pre- incident planning, secure incident scenes, and determine fire origin and cause; and develop and implement a project or program to support organizational change.
Certification:
Each student who completes the course will receive a certificate from State Fire Training.
Designed For:
Personnel preparing to pursue Fire Officer 2 certification or anyone who performs the duties of a Fire Officer 2 within their agency.
Prerequisites:
Meet one of the following requirements:
- OSFM Fire Fighter 2 certification (any version)
- Currently in the position of Company Officer or Fire Officer 2 (acting does not apply)
Fire Officer 2A: Human Resource Management (SFT)
Standard:
Complete all required activities and formative tests.
Complete all summative tests with a minimum score of 80%.
Course Hours:
54 hours
- 17.5 hours of in-class lecture
- 23.5 hours of in-class application and Testing
- 13 hours of task book application – Outside of Class

Course Details:
The class will begin at 0800. The dress is casual yet respectful, and uniforms are acceptable as well.
Like all Elite Command Training courses, please bring a laptop computer with a USB Type-A port to class each day. Your student materials will be on flash drives that you’ll receive on the first day.
