- The “Fire Officer” series of courses is now taught under the new curriculum from California State Fire Training.
- Any of the Fire Officer series courses (Fire Officer 2/3/4) MUST be taken IN ORDER.
- A candidate may initiate a Fire Officer certification task book at the beginning of their first Fire Officer course offering (Fire Officer 2, Fire Officer 3, and Fire Officer 4). Please download and print the course task book, and bring it for the entire course.

Course Description:
The Fire Officer 4A course provides the skills and knowledge needed for a Fire Officer 4 to safely, effectively, and competently appraise human resource demographics, develop an employee/management program, evaluate an education and training program, appraise an employee assistance program, evaluate an incentive program, and manage a risk program.
Designed For:
Personnel preparing to pursue Fire Officer 4 certification or anyone who performs the duties of a Fire Officer 4 within their agency.
Prerequisites:
Meet one of the following requirements:
- Meet the education requirements of OSFM Chief Fire Officer or Fire Officer 3 certification
- Currently in the position of, or acting as, a Chief Fire Officer or higher
Standard:
- Complete all required activities and formative tests.
- Complete all summative tests with a minimum score of 80%.
Course Hours (Total): 54 hours
- 22 hours of in- class lecture
- 16 hours of in-class application and in-class testing
- 16 hours of task book application, outside of class
Course Details:
The class will begin at 0800. The dress is casual yet respectful, and uniforms are acceptable as well.
Like all Elite Command Training courses, please bring a laptop computer with a USB Type-A port to class each day. Your student materials will be on flash drives that you’ll receive on the first day.
