Assistant Chief Tom Siragusa is a 36-year veteran of the fire service and is currently the assistant chief in division three with the San Francisco Fire Department. He served as a firefighter in 1976-77 with the California department of forestry in Middletown, California. He was also a firefighter/paramedic with the San Rafael (CA) fire department from 1980-82. Tom has spent most of his career in the south of market, mission districts and was the director of training for the SFFD from 2004-09. He served as the deputy chief of operations from July 2011-February 2012. Siragusa is a California state certified fire instructor and chief officer level instructor for high-rise operations, multi-alarm incidents and ICS for hazardous materials incidents. As a member of the SFFD mutual aid response committee, Tom co-authored a wildland/urban interface fire behavior, tactics and safety manual. He develops, teaches and instructs numerous courses for the San Francisco Fire Department as well as other agencies. He currently serves on the region two, level 400 CICCS peer review committee. Tom has been the first operational area coordinator for region two for 12 years.
