Brian Midtlyng is a Fire Captain at the the South Placer Fire District in Granite Bay which is 30 min east of Sacramento. He started at South Placer in 1998 and was promoted to Captain in 2008. He is a qualified STEN and TFLD. He hold a Bachelors in Fire Service Management from CSU Sacramento and an Associates from Sierra College in Fire Technology. He is an assistant instructor at the Sierra College Regional Fire Academy as well. His department covers 63 square miles of South Western Placer County and is an all risk agency which includes transporting ambulances. The department is comprised of a large WUI interface in the SRA portion of the department with both traditional ranch style houses along with many luxury homes as well. Captain Midtlyng’s passion is training and mentoring new and aspiring Officers and to help them better understand how essential and important their job is to both their department and their employees.
