NEW State Fire Officer 3 Series Information:
The Fire Officer 3B course is one of the “NEW” State Fire Training Fire Officer 3 series. While you will be in the classroom for four days, you will also have to complete activities related to the Task Book sign-off requirements. These activities are completed at your own pace over the week following the live instruction. You must complete all task book assignments by the due date of the course, which is December 22nd -two weeks after the start of class. Description:
The Fire Officer 3B course provides the skills and knowledge needed for a Fire Officer 3 to safely, effectively, and competently develop a model plan for continuous organizational improvement, direct a department record management system, analyze and interpret records and data, evaluate an inspection program, develop a community awareness program, develop a budget management system, develop a division or departmental budget, and describe the process for ensuring competitive bidding.
Designed For:
Personnel preparing to pursue Fire Officer 3 certification or anyone who performs the duties of a Fire Officer 3 within their agency.
Course Details:
The class will begin at 0830. The dress is casual yet respectful, and uniforms are acceptable as well.
Like all Elite Command Training courses, please bring a laptop computer with a USB Type-A port to class each day. Your student materials will be on flash drives that you’ll receive on the first day.
Prerequisites:
- Fire Officer 3A: Human Resource Management
Meet ONE of the following requirements

- Meet the education requirements of an OSFM Company Officer or Fire Officer 2
- Currently in the position of Chief Fire Officer (acting does not apply)
Certification:
California Fire Officer 3 Certificate
Standard:
Complete all activities and formative tests. Complete all summative tests with a minimum of 80% correct.
